Rules and Regulations

Prizes
Twelve prizes of $500 Canadian in electronic gift cards (“e-gift card”) (“gift card”) are available to be won through the Tango Blast Rewards Program operated by Tango Card, Inc. (“Tango”). Winners can choose their own gift card(s) from the selection offered through Tango for a total of $500.
Only one prize per winner will be awarded. See the section, “Winner Selections / Draws” for draw dates of each prize. No purchase necessary. Restrictions apply.
Contest Period
The Stay Current Contest (the “contest”) begins at 12:01 a.m. EST on January 7, 2022 and closes at 11:59:59 p.m. EST on December 31, 2022 (“Contest Closing Date”). Please read the full contest rules and regulations, the Tango Terms and Conditions/restrictions and the details below.
Contest Eligibility
This contest is open to all active and retired Ontario education employees, resident of Ontario. Edvantage members are also eligible. Contestants must be at least 18 years of age at the time they enter this contest and if entering through the Edvantage website, must be valid and active Edvantage members. Employees, directors, trustees and officers of OTIP and its affiliated companies 1, (collectively for purposes of this contest, “OTIP”), the prize selection team and members of their respective immediate families and/or anyone with whom the employees, directors, trustees or officers of OTIP are domiciled, are excluded.
To enter and be eligible, contestants must provide their first and last name, valid email address, postal code and must subscribe to at least one of OTIP’s free subscriptions and/or electronic communications or Edvantage’s free subscription and/or electronic communications not currently receiving (“mandatory information”) before they can be entered into the contest and eligible to win any of the prizes. Failure to complete the mandatory information means the contestant will not be entered into the contest.

A maximum of one entry per contestant is allowed into the contest throughout the Contest Period. Multiple entries into this contest, whether through the OTIP website or the Edvantage website or both (listed above) will not increase the contestant’s chances into the contest, will be considered duplicate entries to the contest, declared void and the contestant will be disqualified from the contest rendering them ineligible for any of the prizes.
Only one prize can be won by an eligible contestant throughout the contest. See “Winner Selection / Draws” section below for time periods and prizes.
Entries must be received on or before 11:59:59 p.m. EST on the Contest Closing Date. In disputes, online entries to the contest may be deemed to be made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. Authorized account holder is deemed as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses or the domain associated with the submitted email address.
If anyone does not wish to receive marketing materials, promotional emails, electronic publications, product information, news, information and/or surveys by email and/or feedback emails after consenting to do so and/or after entering the contest, may unsubscribe at any time be selecting the unsubscribe link in the email delivering that particular promotional email sent by OTIP and/or Edvantage.
Winner Selections / Draws
Twelve (12) separate and random draws will be made, each draw for $500 Canadian worth of e-gift cards throughout the Contest Period from all eligible entries submitted into the contest through the OTIP website and through the Edvantage website up to and including, the Contest Closing Date. Each separate and random draw will take place in Waterloo, Ontario on or about the following draw dates by an independent selection team, as follows:
The winner from one draw will not be reentered into the contest for a chance to win another draw for a prize.
Odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received by the end of the month for each prize and by the Contest Closing Date. All decisions by the independent prize selection team are final and binding on the participants in all matters relating to the contest.
To win a prize the selected contestant must first correctly answer without assistance of any kind, a time-limited, mathematical, skill-testing question in writing before being declared a prize winner.
For the purpose of these rules, the contestant is the person whose name was entered into the contest. In the event that more than one person is registered on the winning entry, all such persons will be jointly declared winners of the prize. They will then have to decide which one of them will answer the skill-testing question and receive the prize. In case of a disagreement between them, OTIP reserves the right to decide to which person the skill-testing question will be asked and the person to receive the prize if all other eligibility requirements are met.
The selected contestant will be notified by email using the email address entered into the contest. If the selected contestant cannot be contacted or does not respond after a minimum of three attempts within seven calendar days from the first attempt at contact, or if a prize notification notice is returned as undeliverable, or if the contestant incorrectly answers the skill-testing question, declines the prize or fails to return a release of liability within 10 days’ time to OTIP/Edvantage, that contestant will be declared ineligible to win the prize and another contestant will be selected in the manner described above.
When a contestant is contacted as the selected winner for a prize, he or she will be asked for an email address and/or a residential address to where the skill-testing question, a declaration of compliance with contest rules, a liability and publicity release can be sent.
Post office box addresses are not acceptable as courier companies cannot deliver to box numbers. If the winner resides at a country address and/or a rural route address, the winner may be asked for their emergency-locate address or other identifiable information to assist the courier company with the delivery.
When a selected contestant has been deemed/declared the winner, OTIP will advise Tango to send the winner of the draw a “Tango Card Reward Link” email via a secure file transfer process site (“SFTP”). The winner will receive an email from Tango with their “Tango Card” valued at $500 Canadian (email includes redemption instructions). To complete the reward process, the contest winner will click on the redemption URL link in the email, to take them to the Reward Link website to select the gift card(s) they would like to receive. Winners can allocate their $500 balance to as many gift card options as they would like for a combined total of $500, or they can use the full balance of $500 for one gift card. For example, $250 can be applied to an Amazon.ca gift card, $50 to a Starbucks gift card and $200 to an Esso gift card. The winner will receive their gift card(s) by email from Tango with redemption instructions. Subject to any changes by Tango, the e-gift card options are from the following companies (subject to change):
Gift cards will be delivered electronically to the eligible winner by email from Tango. Members must provide a valid email address in order to receive their gift card. Gift cards will only be delivered electronically and not by any other means of delivery. Please allow ten (10) business days for delivery of the gift card(s) save and except for any unforeseen events such as, but not limited to, a weather event, postal or courier strike, flood, fire, war, break out of disease, quarantine, hydro outage, service provider problems. Gift cards can only be used in Canada.
E-gift cards fall under the rules and regulations, terms and conditions of each company issuing the e-gift card, as amended from time to time. OTIP, Edvantage, Tango or the companies issuing the e-gift cards will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, or misplaced gift cards or gift cards that have expired with a balance remaining on them after they have been delivered to the winner, or any fees or charges associated with e-gift cards in any way. E-gift cards will not be replaced, refunded or reimbursed if lost, stolen or misplaced. Purchase amounts that exceed the value of e-gift cards will require payment by the user by some other method for the balance due.
Personal information will not be shared with parties outside of this promotion but will be used by Tango to deliver the gift card of choice by way of a SFTP website to the qualified winner. The companies represented, including Tango, are not sponsors of the rewards, partner or sponsor in this offer or otherwise affiliated with OTIP, Edvantage or Tango. The logos and other identifying marks attached are trademarks of and owned by each represented company and/or its affiliates. Entries and the prize claim are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
General Conditions
This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, territorial and municipal laws and regulations, is void where prohibited by law and is governed by Canadian laws and the laws of the Province of Ontario. If any provision of these rules is found by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable, all other provisions will remain in full force and effect.
By participating in this contest, contestants agree to be bound by these rules and regulations and the rules and regulations set out by the provider of the prizes, Tango Card Inc., and the company/companies offering the e-gift cards.
OTIP will not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the contest including, but not limited to, the contestant’s information entered into contest page and the contest by any person, including, but not limited to, a customer sales representative.
All entries become the property of OTIP upon receipt and will not be returned. By entering this contest, contestants agree to the use of their personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy regulating OTIP and Edvantage at http://www.otip.com/privacy (for OTIP companies). When contestants participate in a contest OTIP may keep a record of the information, response or any opinion volunteered without reference to their identity to calculate the contest results on their respective websites or in other media such as business documents or leaflets sent to members. Collection of information, including name, address, phone number(s) and email address under this contest is strictly for the purposes of administering this contest and providing any materials or information requested by the contestant. OTIP will use personal information the contestant submits for the purposes of contacting a contestant and awarding a prize in the contest should the contestant be selected as a winner. By entering the contest, contestants who win any of the prizes, agree to have their names published; however, the identities of contest winners and other personal information are never published without their written consent. Consent will not be unreasonably withheld. If the contestant requests marketing information about OTIP products and services, OTIP may send the marketing information to the contestant’s email address, residential address or as otherwise directed by the contestant. Personal information will not be shared with outside parties, save and except Tango, and only for the purposes of delivering the e-gift card.
All prizes of the prepaid gift cards will be emailed to the winners by Tango and are non-transferable, non-assignable and non-exchangeable for cash or any other form except at the discretion of OTIP.
The winners are responsible for ensuring they read and understand any rules, regulations and terms and conditions of each of the companies issuing the gift cards. OTIP and Edvantage are not responsible for any failure to read and understand these rules, regulations and terms and conditions.
Any and all taxes on any prize awarded, including income taxes, and any incidental expenses associated with collection of the prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner. No substitutions will be made for any prize except at the discretion of OTIP/Edvantage who may substitute a prize of equal or greater value or substitute a provider of the prize in the event any of the contest prizes are no longer available. All Internet fees, transactional fees, down-loading fees, up-loading fees, accessories, application fees, Wi-Fi costs, roaming charges, costs of programs, long distance charges, travel expenses, mileage, accommodations, meals and extraordinary expenses, including but not limited to beverages and any feature and accessory not expressly listed as part of any prize shall be the sole financial responsibility of the prize winner. None of the contestants and/or the prize winners will be eligible to seek reimbursement for the same from OTIP, Edvantage, Tango, their affiliates or representatives or any other party to this contest, including the companies offering any and all prizes.
A prize shall be null and void if the winner of a specific prize does not accept their prize by January 31, 2023. All prizes may be subject to expiry dates set by the companies offering the gift cards and/or the company offering the prizes and the winner of any prize in this contest must agree to abide by those rules, regulations, restrictions, terms and conditions and expiry dates.
OTIP reserves the right to withdraw, terminate, suspend, cancel, amend or modify all or part of the contest, in any manner and any rule(s) of the contest, including the number of e-gift cards awarded, at any time and without prior notice, for any reason whatsoever or if it determines that for any reason the contest cannot be run as originally planned, including, but not limited to, technical failure or corruption, computer virus, bugs, computer, electronic or system malfunction, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other factor(s) or cause(s) beyond OTIP’s control which in OTIP’s opinion compromises the fairness or integrity of the contest and/or affects the administration, security, or proper conduct of this contest as contemplated by these official rules. Failure to comply with OTIP’s or Tango’s terms and conditions may disqualify the selected contestant and/or winner from receiving a prize. Under this section OTIP is not obligated to award any prize to any selected contestant for any reason.
If, as a result of an error relating to the entry process, entry, entry count, drawing or any other aspect of the contest, there are more potential winners of the prizes than contemplated in these rules, there will be a random draw amongst all eligible prize claimants after the Contest Closing Date to award the applicable prize.
By submitting a completed entry form to enter the contest, the winner releases OTIP and Edvantage from any and all liability arising out of, or in connection with, this contest and the awarding of any prize, now or in the future. By entering this contest, the winner consents in writing to the use of their name, city and province where they reside by OTIP and/or Edvantage in a format approved by that winner, as well as any audio/video image, statements, and/or photographs in any related publicity and publication without further compensation, worldwide and in perpetuity, in any and all forms of media and social media now known or hereafter devised, including, but not limited to, the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, You Tube, Pinterest, SnapChat and in any publicity or advertising carried out by OTIP and/or Edvantage, unless prohibited by law. OTIP reserves the right to post or publish any winner’s name, city, or province of residence, photograph, likeness, voice or other statements, as directed by the winner, on its website and/or on the website of OTIP’s affiliated companies and/or on the sponsor’s website for advertising and promotional purposes, where lawful, without further compensation to the winner, worldwide and in perpetuity.
By entering in the contest, the winner agrees to sign a form of declaration confirming compliance with the contest rules and regulations and agrees to release, indemnify and forever discharge OTIP and Edvantage and their affiliated companies, directors, trustees, officers, employees, the prize selection team and any of their parents, affiliates, agents, and contractors, the companies issuing the gift cards, Tango and any advertising and promotional agencies whether for the contest and/or the prize, and all their directors, trustees, officers and employees, from any and all action, proceedings, suits, liability, losses, costs, expenses (including legal fees and disbursements), damages, demands and claims of any kind, in respect of anything done by OTIP, Edvantage, Tango and/or the companies issuing the gift cards in the performance of their duties hereunder in connection with the contest and/or resulting from the acceptance, possession or use of a prize or any part of a prize or any extension to a prize, including without limitation, but not limiting to, any loss, personal injury, death, disablement, dismemberment, property, home or auto damage, or claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy that could result from, but not limited to, the awarding or use of any prize, by signing an Agreement / Release Form as a condition to and in advance of receiving their prize in favour of OTIP/Edvantage and the prize sponsor and neither OTIP, Edvantage, Tango or the companies issuing the gift cards will be liable for the use or misuse of the prize. OTIP/Edvantage assumes no responsibility for the participation in the contest or any liability, claims, demands, actions, loss, damage or personal injury that may be sustained by the contestants and/or the winners. The provisions of this section shall survive the termination of this contest and may be relied upon by the parties hereto at any time.
Failure to comply with these contest rules and regulations may result in disqualification from the contest at any time.
OTIP/Edvantage is not responsible for any entries that are lost, late, damaged, destroyed, corrupted or misdirected, incomplete, garbled, or delayed by or on any computer, online telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur in the processing transmission or receipt of entries.
OTIP/Edvantage is not responsible for any theft, destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries; failures or malfunctions of electronic data transmission, telephones, telephone lines or telephone systems, interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, any error, omission, interruption, defect or delay in any transmission or communication; traffic congestion on the Internet or for any technical problem, including but not limited to any injury or damage to the participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in this contest; the cancellation, suspension or preemption of games, injuries or timing errors, electronic or equipment failure or other communication problems occurring in connection with participation in this contest nor is it responsible for any transmission of viruses from any OTIP website, Edvantage website and/or Tango website to a computer system or if any whole entry system crashes resulting in the contest being cancelled or other problems or errors of any kind whether mechanical, human, electronic or otherwise.
OTIP, Edvantage, the prize selection team, Tango and the companies offering the gift cards and any of their parents, affiliates, agents, and contractors, including advertising, sponsoring and promotional agencies, and their directors, trustees, officers and employees expressly disclaim and shall be held free of all responsibility or liability for any loss or damage in respect to any prize howsoever caused, any act, error, omission, injury, loss, accident, delay or the neglect or default of any company or person providing any service for the contest, whether through providers negligence or otherwise, or due to cancellations, adverse weather conditions, loss of personal belongings, illness, bodily injury, accident, death, deterioration of services, inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, disappointment or frustration, either mental or physical due to any Acts of God, force majeure or third party wrong doing, epidemic, social or political disturbances or due to any cause whatsoever occurring during the contest and the use of the prize by the winner.
Tango Terms and Conditions
Please protect your card as you would cash. Lost, stolen or cards used without your authorization cannot be replaced or replenished. Each prepaid gift card is not redeemable for cash except where legislation requires otherwise. Use of the prepaid gift card constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions of the card and the card carrier.
